Chief Evans began his career with the Centralia Police Department in January of 1988. Rising through each of the department's ranks, he was named Chief of Police on 15 April, 2004. The police department is comprised of 25 sworn officers, 6 telecommunicators and 3 civilian employees.
Chief Evans is a Centralia High School Graduate, holds an Associates Degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Kaskaskia College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Illinois University, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Lindenwood College. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy class 217 and a former military officer and aviator. He is married and has two daughters.
Chief Evans' ideals on the delivery of law enforcement services are reflected in the Department's Mission Statement.
