The City of Centralia encourages everyone in Centralia to get involved in keeping our community clean. The Keep Centralia Beautiful / Clean & Green organization is our local affiliate of the nation-wide Keep America Beautiful organization.
Bev Virobik is the coordinator for Keep Centralia Beautiful / Clean & Green. You may contact her about programs and activities, including questions about the Recycling Center on W. McCord. Her number is 532-8430.
Keep Centralia Beautiful is always looking for more volunteers. Here are a few suggestions about how you can get involved:
- The Adopt-a-Spot program. Anyone in our area can sign up to adopt their own street or block. Once adopted, the community will count on you to periodically clean up any debris of trash that may be found along the roadside. Other Spots may be adopted, like a park, trail, or section of train tracks. Contact Bev Virobik for details.
- Attend Clean & Greeen Board meetings each month. These are at City Hall, upstairs in the Council Chambers, on the third Thursday of each month.
- Participate in organized community cleanup efforts. The City of Centralia and Clean & Green plan two clean-ups per year, usually in April and October. School clubs, scouting troops, groups of co-workers, civic groups, churches and familiies are all invited to participate. The work usually involves walking along a designated street and picking up any litter or debris along both sides of the road.
